Does this brush really work or does it hurt the animal?
I think it works really well. My girl doesn't like being brushed in general, but she tolerates this one. Just be careful not to use it too much, as it can pull out a lot of hair. It's great for removing mats and thinning a thick undercoat, especially for summer.

I have two dogs—a Golden Doodle with tightly curled hair, and a Shih Tzu with thinner, straight hair. The Golden Doodle didn't benefit much from this brush, but my Shih Tzu loved it! It worked really well on his straight hair, effortlessly removing knots without causing any pain. So, it’s a no for curly hair but a yes for straight hair!
Is it normal for it to pull some? When brushing my dog it pulls her hair some... normal or not?

It will pull a little until all the knots are out of the hair. After a while, it will be as smooth as silk.
How often should I use this comb to keep my dog's coat knot-free?
How often should I use this comb to keep my dog's coat knot-free?
For best results, use the comb 2-3 times a week. This will help prevent mats from forming and keep your dog's coat smooth and healthy. If your dog has a particularly thick coat, you might need to use it more frequently.
